Live from Music Row, Thursday morning on The Tennessee Star Report with Michael Patrick Leahy – broadcast on Nashville’s Talk Radio 98.3 and 1510 WLAC weekdays from 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. – host Leahy welcomed all-star panelist and The Epoch Times’ Editor-at-Large Roger Simon to discuss his recent article about Liz Cheney and her hate, along with how she suffers from the Electra complex which has fueled it.
Leahy: We are joined in-studio by my former boss at PJTV, an all-star panelist here at The Tennessee Star Report, a California refugee who’s arrived here in Tennessee, an Academy Award-nominated screenwriter, and also Senior Editor at The Epoch Times, ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Roger Simon. Good morning, Roger.
Simon: Good morning, Michael Patrick Leahy.
Leahy: Roger, your piece today at The Epoch Times, I love it. “Hatred makes you stupid.” And the person who illustrates this the most is …
Simon: Liz Cheney.
Leahy: Tell us your argument there.
Simon: It’s quite simple, because if you watched those January 6 committee reports, what you were watching on television was a hate-fest, and most people didn’t watch it. Who wants to watch a hate-fest?
Leahy: I know, right?
Simon: Nobody wants to watch. But it’s worse than that, because you can just switch off the TV. And people did so the third time – actually, they were supposed to have another show in their show trial, and they suddenly said, oh, we’re not organized enough. This is after 17 months.
They canceled the third performance, which is a sign of something. But the real problem is hate. Liz Cheney is an example where she used to be a conservative back in the old days, but she’s lost contact with any of her ideas because she hates so much.
Leahy: She hates Donald Trump.
Simon: She hates him with a passion that’s absolutely, well, you know where it comes from. It’s something called the Electra complex.
Leahy: Tell our audience what the Electra complex is and how it applies to Liz Cheney.
Simon: Okay, well, I bet that a lot of people in the audience have heard of the Oedipus complex, where a young fellow has a little bit too much adoration for mom. Well, the Electra complex …
Leahy: That is a kind way of putting it.
Simon: … the Electra complex is the reverse, where a woman has a little bit too much admiration for Dad. And in this case, Dad was Dick Cheney.
And Donald Trump came along and said nasty things about her father, particularly that her father was responsible for the Iraq War, which now, in retrospect, very few people like. Trump went a little over the top with Dick.
Leahy: What? Trump went over the top? I’m shocked. I’m shocked.
Simon: During an election period, on the other hand, he went over the top of a lot of people. And what happened was Liz took it so personally that now, years and years later, all she can do and think about is how much she hates Trump.
It’s sort of like Ferdinand the Bull, if you remember that. Anyway, so, therefore, every idea and thought she ever had has gone out the window.
And she made an alliance with probably the biggest, most extreme left-wing nincompoops on the Democratic side, Jamie Raskin and Adam Schiff being among them who were all caught lying during this committee meeting. But Liz Cheney just sits there and nods and applauds it.
Leahy: She has a primary opponent. I think it’s going to be like the last week of July in Wyoming or the first week of August, right? All the polls show that the Trump-endorsed challenger in that primary, Harriet Hageman, has like a 25-30 point lead.
What does Liz Cheney do if she loses that primary to represent to be the sole member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Wyoming?
Simon: She quietly gets a job with a liberal think tank or something. She disappears from the public view. But she’s willing to sacrifice herself so much for this, and it’s a lesson to all of us.
It’s not just about Liz Cheney, who is an aberrant personality in this case. Actually, years ago, I met her when I interviewed Dick for PJTV.
Leahy: What was that like?
Simon: At the Reagan Library. It was in those days in awe of her father, I have to admit. But Liz came along for the interview. I was surprised, I’d never met her before.
And I saw a kind of a manifestation of the Electra complex in front of my eyes. It was a very strange phenomenon. But it’s sad really, now, but it’s sadder for America because Liz Cheney can do anything she wants.
It’s another politician. But we don’t need this … going on now. All this hatred, we see it coming right out of the White House from our esteemed leader all the time.
Hatred of everybody, blaming Putin for everything. Hate has become kind of the national watchword rather than what we hope would be in a democracy.
